It means we are committed to developing and retaining the best set of crew for you. It means also you will be well supported by fast, reliable, and quality crew management services in the best interests of principal and seafarers from day one.
Monsoon Seafarers are well trained professionals with operational experiences from different types of vessels, areas of operations, flag registries and working with different nationalities.
Any rating or officer assigned to a shipowner/principal will remain within that pool for continuity for both company and vessels.
All crew are compliant with the latest International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and flag state requirements.

Selection and recruitment of seaman in Monsoon is based on our established network, existing crew pool, or advertisement if needed.
A strict evaluation interview, including client matrix, is followed with established procedures that conform to the following guidelines:

Medical standards will comply to local crew state requirements, flag state and MLC, as well as company specified or industry (e.g. UKOG) medical standard or Pandi club standard.
Drug and alcohol tests, vaccinations, and other tests as may be stipulated by the company or industry, will be implemented consistent with STCW/MLC and flag state legal requirements.
We also evaluate our existing sickness and injuries track record for assessing our success rate.

Training matrices are established with our respective customers, according to STCW, MLC and owners’ specification for age, medical, experience and qualification for respective positions onboard.
We have established our own in-house training facilities in Manila and Yangon for pre-joining briefings, anti-piracy, owners QHSE and safety briefing and seminars.
Our Yangon office has in-house training for electrical engineers, cooks and English language. Monsoon Manila has conducted other specific pre-training (e.g. Marine Mammals Observers) as required by our customers.
We use established recognised training centres such as IDESS, Consolidated, MSTS, SMTC for owner-specified training such as offshore BOSIET, OEHTM, FRC, HLO, welding courses etc.
One of our priorities is to continuously train and upgrade our pool of seafarers through upgrading training courses in accordance with STCW and flag state requirements. This helps our seafarers achieve a high standard of safety and professional skills, enhances safety, job satisfaction and career prospects.
Monsoon expects all our seafarers to actively participate in training and upgrading in a systematic manner while ashore and onboard ships. All seafarers must clearly understand their responsibilities towards training and upgrading.
